"Filipines"? Not...

I was saddened when I saw an unfairly-biased poll question this morning. The poll was made 4 months ago, but the comments arising from it continue even up to date. Below is a screenshot from the Topix.net website.

In my opinion, polls should have at least a yes and a no answer, but these are all pointing to yes. What's the point of having a poll? I'm guessing the poll creator just wanted to make a statement - that Philippines (not spelled Filipines) is the poorest country on Earth - which is, not really based on facts, but... racisim, maybe? Or self-loath (if the poll creator's a Filipino? hehe). It would have been fair if the poll was made to honestly ask, and get opinions - but leaving readers no choice but to say "yes", is something else.

I wanted to know what the readers think, so I read the comments - not every single one of them, really, as there are 455 and counting! But I did go over a few... And yup, I can absolutely say there are a lot of haters out there - people who look down on Filipinos, generalizing everything. It's sad when people look down on other people like that - just because of wealth differences. The existence of the haves and the have-nots is a sad reality, but why bully? The Philippines is doing their fair share. It isn't the wealthiest country, but it is not the poorest either. It has problems, and so do other nations.

I wonder how the "haters" would feel if they were born in the world's poorest country (that is, based on GDP & GNP). I'd personally be glad to see them suffer, just so they'll know how it feels - just to knock them out of their arrogant attitudes, with the hope that they'll change, and become more compassionate and respectful.

If reincarnation is real, then those who look down on others in this life would probably be reborn as the lowliest creature in the next life. hehehe We get what we give, huh? Although, Jack Nicholson, in the movie, The Bucket List, has a good point when he said, "[Reincarnation] confuses me... You see, what has a snail got to do, make a perfect line of slime?" Haha I like that line. Good point. =) But who knows what goes on in the snail's world. Anyways, back to the topic... the poll pushed me to research about the latest list of countries by GDP/GNP. I wanted to know where the Philippines stand. And this is what I came up with. Read on.
